The Environmental Protection Agency has released its annual Fuel Economy Guide, detailing the fuel economy of new model year vehicles. While this report features many of the worst gas-guzzlers on the road, the worst offenders like the Hummer aren’t on the list.

Why? Because they exploit a loophole in the law that allows the heaviest gas-guzzlers to evade fuel economy standards and testing. In addition, the report features a list of the ten worst vehicles of 2005.

But instead of listing vehicles that most Americans actually drive, the Bush administration focused on high-end sports cars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The Sierra Club took the EPA data to come up with its own list of the least fuel-efficient vehicles with sales over 15,000 vehicles a year.
